Summer Sail Camp
Sail camp is a fun place to learn new skills.
Summer sail camp is the perfect way to practice safety and respect in and around boats and the aquatic environment, all the time having great FUN. This lifelong sport develops motor skills while building self-confidence and encouraging teamwork.
We teach the basics to beginning sailors and build on prior experience as they advance through the program. Open to all children ages 6 to 18.
We offer a limited number of needs based scholarships.
Each session is taught by US Sailing certified instructors with First Aid and CPR training.
Age 6-7 years old
Living in the Northwest we are surrounded by water. It is important that kids learn to enjoy this environment and to be safe The program is a mix of land-based activities and boating activities. We focus on:
- Enjoying being around the water
- Learning basic water safety skills.
- Using games to learn and have a lot of FUN!.
- How wind and sails work together to make a boat move through the water.
- Basic knot tying
- The vocabulary of sailing

Age 8-11 years old
Classes for those with basic to no boating or sailing experience. The goal is to help students become competent with sailing skills. We focus on:
- Learning while having lots of FUN!.
- Developing basic water safety skills.
- Being able to tack, gibe, steer, and trim
- Knot tying
- Learning unique sailing vocabulary
- Sail in Opti's and Bic's

Age 12-18 years old

This camp is for teenagers. Special training and coaching specific to this group. We focus on:
- Sailing in double handed sailboats
- Teamwork and cooperation
- Learning to tack, gibe and trim
- Boat rigging and seamanship
- And of course, having a lot of FUN together!

It is time to sign up for one of the best Junior Sailing programs. Your child will meet new friends, learn new skills and love being outdoors on the water. Watch them enjoy the thrill of seeing where the wind can take them.
GHYC Junior Sail offers a limited number of needs based scholarships every year for students with a strong desire to learn to sail, but do not have the means to enroll.
